Renee Cook Home
The long graceful porch wrapped around two sides of Renee Cook's home may be the first architectural detail to catch your eye, but wait until you see the inside! When Ms. Cook bought this house in 2018, it needed a great deal of work to bring it back to the glory of its 1874 construction. Supposedly, the original owner, Ernest N. Salling brought over Danish builders from his home country because he was not sure local builders would build it to withstand the Michigan winters. This was shortly after his marriage about 10 years after arriving here from Denmark as an enterprising young man who worked his way up in the lumber business.
